Minimum Award $1,000
Number of Awards 1
The Calvin L. Maulding Memorial Scholarship was established in 2026 to honor the life and legacy of Calvin “Cal” Maulding—a devoted educator, veteran, and lifelong advocate for students. Cal attended schools in the Fife School District and graduated from Fife High School in 1967, where he was voted “Best All-Around” by his classmates. He continued his education at Tacoma Community College and later at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education. From 1974 to 2008, Cal served the Fife School District as an elementary teacher, primarily in first grade, and as a reading specialist. In addition to his career in education, Cal proudly served in the United States Army National Guard from 1970 to 1976. Cal was deeply passionate about teaching children to read and believed strongly in nurturing students not only academically, but also in integrity, character, and kindness. His warmth, encouragement, and unwavering belief in his students left a lasting impact on the many lives he touched.
